1st VideoDanceCompetition

The competition is open to dancers of all levels and all ages! It is made for dancers in the UK, but anyone can take part, from anywhere.

Applications are open until 15 April 2027. Follow our social media to be the first to hear the competition's news.

Yes, you can lay the sound over the video, except in the Tap categories, where the footwork must be clearly heard.

You are completely free to choose any music you like, and you can combine different tracks. However, music with sexual content, obscene language or violence is not allowed. The music must be suitable for the age group. Important: some songs cannot be played on YouTube because of copyright. In that case, your video will be shown without sound or with a different version of the track.

Videos from shows or other events are allowed. If a logo is visible, there is a small chance that we cannot show the video in our YouTube premieres, for copyright reasons. Videos filmed at another competition are allowed, but must be entered in the "Videos from live competitions" category of the dance style.

There is no restriction on the location. It can be your dance school, a theatre, outdoors or any other place.

The aim of our competition is to promote your work and, more broadly, to give something back to dance. Scores below 70% will not be announced publicly.

The dates on which the results will be announced will be published soon.

The results will first be announced in our YouTube live, where only the videos of those who wish will be shown. After the live, the results will be available through your entry management link.

You can pay after you first submit your application. We will then email you your entry management link, where you pay by card. The confirmation is immediate.

In artistic videos there are no restrictions on filming and editing: several cameras, shot changes, effects and creative editing are allowed. In the other categories, the video must be filmed with one camera, without shot changes and without cuts. Zooming is allowed, as long as it does not prevent the judging of your choreography and technique. In all categories the resolution must be at least 720p, and the time limits of each category apply.

The top three in each category receive ranking medals (or a trophy), regardless of score, sent free of charge. In addition, every entry can win a Gold (90–100), Silver (80–89) or Bronze (70–79) performance title, based on the average of the 2 highest judges' scores. Those who win a performance title can get a medal or plaque at a small cost, once commemorative items become available to buy. The sponsors' prizes will be announced soon.

It is a new category for short videos of 40-50 seconds: a small choreography or a part of a longer one, your free choice. It exists in every dance style (except the disability ones), one general Shorts category per style (in Pole two: Artistic and Exotic), as Solo, Duet or Group. In K-Pop the matching category is called Killing Part. Shorts compete only with other Shorts of the same style and are chosen in the application form, within your dance style.

It is a new category in which everyone dances the same given choreography, and the winners are those who perform it best. Technique and interpretation are judged, on equal terms for everyone! The dance styles and the choreographies will be announced soon. The category will open for applications as soon as the choreographies are announced.

The fan favorite is an award given to one video in each category, chosen by a public vote. All the videos you have chosen to be shown in our YouTube live take part.
